Current Missions News:
The Mission Board would like to give a shout out to Becky Cole on the fantastic new look of the mission table. Thank you Becky!
The board has made a decision regarding the Penny Project. Starting this year, through next June, the penny project will be collecting coins (it doesn’t have to be just pennies) for gas for the motorcycle in Napal. Please look for the ‘Penny Project’ jar on the mission table.\
The Warm Clothing Drive is ready to accept donations of clothing. Now that summer is here and we are all putting away our winter clothing, start thinking of what you want to keep and what you would like to donate. We have cleaned out our church's storage area and are now able to collect warm clothing for this event in October. Bag them or box them, label them ‘warm clothing’, and drop them off on the bench outside the office be-tween 8:30 A.M. and 1 P.M. Clothing should be in good and clean condition.
We are looking for coats, jackets, sweats, sweaters, long pants (no shorts or capris), mittens and gloves, scarves, boots, etc. We had a great turnout last year, and we are hoping to once again bring warmth to the community. We appreciate all that you do to help. Thank you.
This summer the Board of Missions, along with Pastors Zack and Dave, are exploring brand new ways to do missions in the life of our church. The desires are to develop and nurture a greater sense of ownership, to have a greater impact for the kingdom, and to become more “hands-on” with the ministries we are supporting.
Currently our Missions budget finds us giving small sums of money to a number of causes and missions. As we have been discussing this, it is clear that our church does not feel a real connection with many of our partners. We are sending money to a number of organizations—local, global, and denominational—with little connections to most. With that in mind, the Board of Missions in hoping to make some changes as we look to 2019 and beyond.
We invite you to join us for a Mission Explosion meeting—either on Sunday, July 22 following worship or on Thursday, August 2 at 6:30 P.M. Come learn about our new directions, come ask questions, come discover how you can become more involved, and come share your thoughts and ideas. This will be an exciting summer for missions at First Baptist Church!

- First, the board will be proposing to greatly downsize the number of places we are financially supporting. The plan being explored will see us giving to 3 global projects/missionaries and 3 local organizations/causes; we will be giving more money and support to fewer partners.
- Second, we as a church will then spend time learning about, connecting with, and supporting these mission partners. The hope is to become more ‘missional’, more hands-on and connected with our partners.
- Third, we will examine our denominational connections and work to gain a greater understanding of these relationships.
