WE ARE A PEOPLE OF...

They devoted themselves to the Apostle's teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
~ Acts 2:42-47

Worship

Our God is a truly awesome and amazing God. The magnificence of His creation, the beauty of His grace and salvation through His Son and the power of His Holy Spirit all speak of His character and personality. He is worthy of all the praise that we can muster is His presence. We are a people who desire to be "filled with awe" in our worship of Him.

Ministry

Our salvation and our faith in Christ motivate us to serve Him within the walls of our building and beyond. Ministry in it essence is "meeting needs" and our church family is striving to meet the needs of our community and beyond....

Missions

Among Jesus' final words to the human family we find the Great Commission; commanding us to "go forth into all the world baptizing people in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded." We, as followers of Christ, have been given a mission to go into the world, and to support efforts going into the world, sharing Christ as we meet material needs. As a church we pray to have the Lord "add to our numbers daily those who are being saved.

Relationships

The Christian life cannot be, nor was it intended to be, lived alone. "All believers met together and had everything in common" is who we hope to be as a church family. Through a variety of opportunities within our church we do our best to meet socially, to share in fun times, to grow as families and to build relationships with one another. The Christian friendships are some of the most significant relationships that life has to offer.

God's Word

2 Timothy 3:16 states that "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteous, so that the man of God my be thoroughly equipped for every good work." God's Word is central to our lives as Christians. As a church family we "devote ourselves to the apostle's teaching" and we offer a number of study groups to share and study His word.

Prayer

A church without prayer is like a sailboat without wind. Prayer is a powerful force moving among us, and a powerful force moving in us. All we do as a people must be wrapped and immersed in prayer. The Acts 2 church "devoted themselves to the breaking of bread and to prayer" and we here at First Baptist Church are working diligently to live up to that example.

Joy

Though all has been shared we are a chosen people with "glad and sincere hearts" having recognized that we have been richly blessed through our faith in and our obedience to Christ. That joy is experience in all we do, and in who we are as a church family.

We are the people of God! We are His! We desire to worship Him with passion. We long to serve Him with enthusiasm. We strive to share His love with each other and with you. We are engaged in His Word. We are a people who faithfully serve Him, and look to follow His plan for our future. We are continually filled with His joy and are ready to share that joy with all who walk through our doors.
